Book Description
Journal of an Outlaw is a comedic take on the fantasy genre. It is a 204-page book with 120 journal entries that tell you the adventures on an unnamed rogue in the Unremembered Realms. The book has numerous winks to Lord of the Rings, Dungeons & Dragons, roleplaying games, World of Warcraft, social media, Wizards of the Coast, board games, and many others. The author treats these with love and respect but also with a tongue-in-cheek approach that fans of the fantasy genre will truly appreciate.
While the book was meant for adults, but the humor is safe for kids to read. The references and situations that the Outlaw finds himself in will have you turning page after page to see what other mess he’s gotten himself into.
From the Author
I wrote this book being a huge fan of the Dungeons & Dragons game system. I loved all the Dragonlance books book Margaret Weiss and Tracy Hickman. I am also a Tolkien fan and am influenced there as well.
This book is a comedic homage to the fantasy genre which I love. This book is loaded with winks and grins to all these wonderful influences. I even have a salute to gaming podcasts like the Dice Tower and the D&D gaming Facebook groups out there.
This book is appropriate for all ages and parents and kids alike should get a kick out of the Outlaw’s crazy adventures, observations, and peculiar situations.
Epilogue
In my life, I’ve been described as many things: outlaw, thief, ghost, cretin…but I’ll leave it up to whomever reads this to decide for themselves what I am. I’ve seen the world; good, bad, and ugly. So I’ve decided to keep a journal. It’s a way of remembering the people, places, and the things I’ve seen and hopefully putting my memories into some perspective.
The Unremembered Realms is a remarkable place, and I have seen most of it. You may find this journal disturbing, and perhaps you should. My friend is the blade, my blood is the poison, my soul is like a … awe, forget the sweet talk, just lock your doors and watch your back!
These entries are not in any particular order. I have only numbered them for your reference. When you’ve done as much as I have, it’s easy to forget the details of when things have happened, only that they did. I did not change the names to protect the innocent, well, because no one is innocent.
From the Back Cover
Within every pile of treasure, there is something so wonderful that it is hard to put a price on it; well, not always. Sometimes there’s an odd bit of junk that has no value, and you, my friend, have found it!
Before you cast this tome aside, mighty adventurer, take the time to read this journal and see if you can gain some insight on whom the Outlaw is…or was. Sleep with one eye open, hero of the Unremembered Realms, because the Outlaw may be in your party right now…
